Auto Saw with Smart Fixtures
Process Requirements:
Must trim round tubing to length. The tube can vary in diameters from 3/8” to 3.5”. There are 125 different configurations of tubing that must be cut.
Scope:
The machine uses an operator interface for inputting the product size and style. Interchangeable tooling fixtures allow the machine at accommodate the varying sizes. Mechanical switches and optical sensors on the tooling verify that the product is properly placed into the machine. A two hand busy switch activates the machine.
Part Loading:
The tubes are loaded manually and checked for proper orientation by several sensors.
Process:
The tubes are pneumatically clamped into the fixtures.
The tube end is trimmed to the proper length by a mist lubricated circular saw.
The tube is unclamped and manually unloaded.
HMI / Control:
Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus 600 Series HMI
Allen-Bradley CompactLogix L32E Controller
Sensing:
Product is properly loaded before clamping.
Product is properly clamped.
Interchangeable tooling is properly clamped.
Absolute position encoder to feed back saw head position.
Utilities Required:
Electrical: 480v, 3 phase, 30 amp disconnect
Air: Minimum 90 psi.
